protel qualifies for the 2008 Olympics
Once again, protel hotelsoftware GmbH has qualified for the Olympic Games. protel's hotel software took home the gold at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens: Now it's time to tackle a new challenge at the Beijing Olympics.
This May, the "Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad" (BOCOG) chose protel after an exhaustive review of many hotel management software products. Our local Beijing representative, Mr. Zhang Hui of First Information Systems, a protel partner, is working closely with our team at the head office in Dortmund to implement a protel multi-property solution in Beijing.
Protel is the international Property Management System produced by protel hotelsoftware GmbH of Dortmund (D) and sold by certified partners all around the word. protel MPE allows the management of hotel chains thanks to a centralized database. In Itlaly, protel is sold by Serenissima Informatica and it is used by single unit hotels, groups and hotel chains with 4 or 5 stars.
BOCOG has been busy preparing for the 29th Olympic Games since 2001. From the beginning, its goal has been to make sure all construction projects for the Olympics stick to a tight schedule. And they've succeeded. The 2008 Olympics promises to be smoothly organized, with spectacular sports facilities, cutting-edge communications, modern transportation and world-class accommodations.
The expected flood of visitors from both China and from abroad will be demanding. Adequate accommodations are a must. Wang Wei, an executive of BOCOG, feels they are well prepared: "... Beijing welcomes all visitors from all over the world. Beijing's hotels and restaurants can easily accommodate 500,000 tourists, at the least. There are more than 650 star-rated hotels in the city." 17,200 athletes and officials alone will live in Beijing's Olympic Village during the 29th Summer Olympics, while two "Media Villages" with a total capacity of 7,000 beds were constructed just for credentialed reporters.
Years of painstaking preparations will finally come to an end when the Olympics' opening celebrations begin on August 6. protel is proud to once again be contributing to the games.
